Death Claims
John Elborn

   John Elborn, 15 Norman st., died Sunday afternoon in the Stratford General Hospital from injuries received when he fell in his home about Sept. 22. Eighty-six years old, his health had been good up to that time. Mr. Elborn was born in Glasgow, Scotland, Feb. 7, 1863, emigrated to Ardmore, Penn. in 1891 thence to Stratford in 1909. He was married here in 1899 to Ellen Stevenson, a native of Stratford, the couple celebrated their golden wedding last February. Mr. Elborn retired four years ago from his post as stockkeeper with Imperiod Rattan Company Ltd. after 35 years service. He was a life member of the Stratford Horticultural Society and of the Stratford Agricultural Society, and was for about 20 years secretary of the former organization. His unfaltering loyalty to the work of these two societies was given recognition when he was awarded Service Diplomas from both groups, and he also was honoured by the Ontario Horticultural Society when he was awarded the Horticultural Service Diploma some years ago. He belonged to the congregation of Central United Church. Surviving are a son, Harold E, Toronto; two daughters, Mrs. M. A. Adamson, Midhurst Ont., and Miss Eleanor Elborn, 15 Norman st.; and three grandchildren. The body will rest at the family home until Wednesday, when Rev. N. A. Healey, pastor of Central United Church, will conduct a funeral service there at 2:00 p.m., with burial following in Avondale cemetery. 1

OBITUARY:

MRS. JOHN ELBORN
   Mrs. John Elborn, 89, 15 Norman St., the former Ellen Stevenson, died in Avon Crest at 2:25 a.m. today. She had been a patient for the past four years and had suffered a number of strokes. Born in Ellice township, April 17, 1869, she was a daughter of the late John Stevenson and the former Susan Gilchrist. She married John Elborn on Feb. 1, 1899. He died in 1949. In 1899, she and her husband resided in Ardmore, Penn, before returning to Stratford in 1909. Mrs. Elborn was a public school teacher here for several years, teaching at Hamlet public school. A member of Central United Church, she was a past president of the Canadian Club and had been a member of the YWCA board. The last member of her family, she was predeceased by two brothers, John and Robert Stevenson, and one sister, Martha. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Eleanor Elborn, 168 Queen St., and Mrs. M. A. (Winifred) Adamson, Parry Sound, and one son, Harold, of Toronto. There are five grandchildren. The body is resting at the McMane - Gilbert funeral home, 91 Brunswick St., where the funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. W. J. March of Central United Church will officiate. Burial will be made in Avondale cemetery. 2

OBITUARY:

Miss Eleanor Elborn
   Miss Eleanor Gilchrist Elborn, 75, of 45 Buckingham Dr., died at her home Thursday.
   Born in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Elborn.
   She had been a resident of Stratford most of her life and was a secretary at Perth Mutual Fire Insurance Company until her retirement in 1970.
   She was a member of Central United Church.
   Surviving are a sister, Mrs. M. A. (Winifred) Adamson, of Parry Sound. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold.
   The body is at the Heinbuck funeral home where friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held there Saturday at 1:30 p.m. 3
